About
If you're using a small truck with a big trailer, hauling miscellaneous items, you may need a Class A CDL. This course is good for any vehicle that grosses more than 26,001 pounds. If you get caught overweight in a weigh station, the authorities will shut you down and make a Class A CDL driver come out to drive you out of the weigh station. You most assuredly would also get a ticket for being overweight. Example: if your vehicle is plated for under 26,000 pounds and you came in there at 30,000 pounds, they could fine you one dollar for every pound you are overweight, equaling $4,000. You really don't want that kind of problem, and you can't drive a vehicle over 26,000 pounds if you don't have a CDL.
If you qualify with your skill level you may be able to get your class A CDL with only one or two weeks of training in person.
